Intellectual Property

The BART technology is protected by two patents, WO2004/062338 & WO2006/010948. The first of these is already granted in the EU, USA and India and pending in Canada, Japan, Australia, and China; the second patent is in the international phase in all the aforementioned territories. 

Lumora also holds a patent on a mutant firefly luciferase with improved characteristics for assays (WO2007/017684).  This patent is presently in the international phase.

Lumora continues to innovate in the area of bioluminescent assays but also isothermal DNA amplification methods.  We have accumulated considerable know-how associated with isothermal DNA amplification, including various means to improve test performance, key aspects of which have been protected with two recent patent applications from Lumora.

Reflecting Lumora's expertise in isothermal DNA amplification, in 2006 Lumora licensed an early-stage isothermal DNA amplification technology from bioMerieux (WO9704126).  Lumora has rights to apply this technology in the field of food testing.
